The Crown Bearer
Curator's Note
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5
This piece was birthed out of a deep meditation on the exchange that happened at the cross. As I painted, I felt every stroke and every layer of color represent a profound transformation: the way Jesus turned every whip beat, every piercing, and His literally broken heart into a masterpiece of grace.
I chose to use these vibrant colors and textures to show that His suffering wasn’t the end of the story. It was the beginning of our healing. Each mark on this canvas is a visual reminder that what was meant to break Him was used to build a bridge for us.
Because of His sacrifice, the “splendor” you see radiating here is now ours to inhabit. We have direct access to Father Abba, invited to live in the light of our Creator’s everlasting love.
